Historical moment for two agricultural heavyweights
NWK and Senwes from Klerksdorp, both successful businesses in the agricultural sector for more than 100 years, announced an agreement on 2 April according to which NWK’s insurance business and Senwes’ insurance business, known as Univision Financial Services, will be joined.
This transaction is in line with both parties’ growth strategies and to operate their businesses optimally in an extremely competitive global business environment at the same time.
The transaction was structured in such a way that Senwes and NWK will have equal shareholding in the joint business.
NWK expands existing footprint in Botswana
NWK acquired a 50% interest in Mont Trade (Pty) Ltd – a very well-established agriculture-related business in Botswana. This acquisition relates very well to NWK’s long-term strategy and vision to become involved in agriculture in Southern Africa.
NWK already operates an animal feed factory in Gabarone in partnership with Mont Trade through Opti Feeds Botswana (Pty) Ltd, since 2010. By acquiring an interest in Mont Trade the net was only stretched further to the advantage of NWK’s shareholders.
Financing goes “green”
NWK Financing wants to make a contribution to the environment and improvement of NWK’s carbon footprint.
This department is currently busy with an investigation to improve the effectiveness surrounding the sending of account statements and invoices, by utilising electronic media to a greater extent. This initiative will serve to the advantage of the environment. NWK Financing would like to encourage customers who are account holders to use the new NWK website and functionalities.
